The PS3 has some MAJOR High Definition scaling issues. It’s affecting almost everyone in both games and movies. Many games made for 1080p won’t scale properly to 1080i, and sometimes 720p.

"I’m having a huge issue with Blu-Ray movies. It shows as 1080i (even though I have my HDTV setup as 720p in the Media Bar), but it’s very grainy and looks like standard DVD. I spent 2 hours on the phone tonight with Sony Customer Support trying to troubleshoot the issue. The first guy I spoke with for 45 minutes, and he was about as smart as a...

A: Can the X360 send out a digital signal now, or ever?

A: Microsoft Xbox 360 currently doesn't include a digital out connection for video. Our platform is flexible enough to allow support of a digital connection in the future should we choose to do so. When the Xbox 360 was being developed HDMI was nascent and with our current connections we support what the overwhelming majority of consumers have available to them. It's important to note that the market penetration of 1080p displays is in the single digits. Regardless, for those early...

A press release from start of TGS states that a software update this year will enable 1080p output on your Xbox 360!

You will finally be able to experience all 60 frames per second of visuals that your 1080p HDTV can provide. Unfortunately there has been no HDMI cable yet announced so this is only over component and VGA. Even better, users can expect 1080p upscaling immediately on current games and DVDs while native 1080p on compatible HD DVD titles.

We were under the impression that HD-DVD had a 1080i limit on it's out put, but I guess...

No 1080p PS3 Games Yet, Says Sony

The PlayStation 3 may be capable of 1080p, but there are no games that support it right now.

As it turns out, though, unless you're using the PlayStation 3 mainly as a Blu-ray movie player, you're not going to be getting much 1080p content anyway.

Sony has made an issue of pointing out that 1080p, which the Xbox 360 is incapable of, is the Holy Grail of "full HD". As it stands now, the only game that is running in 1080p, said Fargher, is Gran Turismo HD - a tech demo crafted by Polyphony to showcase what the system is capable of.

1. A holiday HD-DVD Xbox360 add-on that will be very inexpensive (around the $200 mark) and is rumored to only require component inputs. No HDMI in sight. This would of course point the finger to no HDCP being used on initial HD-DVD movie disks as expected.

2. For you folks that are buying the new 1080P panels that are now on the market, have no fear, as the Xbox360 looks to already support 1080P resolutions. All that will need to be changed is the connecting cable. Little more information is known on this or if there will be a gaming...
