Finally, after more than 10 years of cross-platform rivalry, it looks like Sonic and Mario will get the chance to slug it out in the same game! Coming off years of speculation that the video game icons could clash in the next Super Smash Bros. title, it looks like competition between the plumber and the hedgehog will be much less fierce. That is, unless you consider table tennis a cut-throat sport. Get your Wii-motes and styluses primed and ready for "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games".

Since the Nintendo DS has a built-in microphone and a wireless Internet connection, what's to stop it from being used as a WiFi phone, or the DSphone, if you will?

VoiceChatClient is a homebrew application that lets you freely call anyone who also has VoiceChatClient installed on their DS. This hack even adds extra value by transmitting what you write on the touch screen to the other person! VCC requires hacked firmware or some type of passthrough device.

Sony's PSP was the best-selling portable game console in 2005, but the Nintendo DS has turned the tables this year: According to market research firm In-Stat, the Nintendo may ship 25 to 30% more devices than Sony.

Electronic Arts may not be known for making major game announcements over in Japan, but here's one for you: Sim City DS! That's right! The original Sim is set for DS release through Electronic Arts.

What does that mean for the game market? People are willing to try on a game handheld that is considerably less in the graphics department but high in gameplay and innovation part. We see a paradigm shift towards gameplay as opposed to high graphics.
