Buried in an IGN preview of the game comes word that the Wii-specific controls seem remarkably well put together. Once Harry's wand is drawn, you can then use the Remote to directly control the casting of spells, which can be cast quickly by the flick of the wrist.

By thrusting the Remote forward Potter will Force push an object away from him. Raising the Remote and Nunchuck upwards allows Potter to levitate an object. You can even move the Remote around while an object is in mid-air to reposition it.

...A certain site has broken their NDA and talked about a bit of EA news.

"This is being lumped in with a bit of news concerning a mic for the Wii. We already knew that a microphone was heading to the Wii via High School Musical (which has one packed in). The second part is a major break of NDA. Everyone that was with me at the EA event signed the NDA as well, and we can’t talk about this game. I won’t be posting on it, or discussing it in any way. PLEASE keep from commenting about the site in question, or the news if you have heard...

Bank of America comments on video game industry saying softer -than-expected demand for PS3 hardware could be an ominous sign given the historical success of third-party software sales on Sony's game consoles. Firm's recent checks indicate sluggish PS3 sales, despite much improved availability. They believe disappointing PS3 hardware sales are an incremental negative for all the game publishers. Firm reiterates their view that early 2007 could be a challenging time for publishing stocks and point to the soft demand for PS3's as...

Recently Glenn Entis, Vice President and Chief Visual Officer at Electronic Arts discussed his feelings about the PlayStation 3 console.

When asked, how do the PS3 and Xbox 360 match up? Glenn responded:

"The whole industry knows it's been a challenge; the PS3's a very complex piece of equipment. On one hand it's a challenge, on the other hand there's tremendous potential in that box. I think it's going to take developers a little while to figure out how to unlock that power.

We've got games coming out now where we feel we've hit...

Electronic Arts' game adaptation of the hit summer movie Superman Returns was originally expected to release alongside the movie in June. However, in May EA told investors that it was "prioritizing game quality higher than making that date," and so had delayed the game to coincide with the movie's release on DVD.

EA's Superman Returns finally arrived in stores last week and was met with unkind reviews. Now one industry analyst is calling the situation "a microcosm of EA's continuing woes," and pointing to it as one part of a larger downward...

Electronic Arts Chief Executive Officer Lawrence Probst said on Wednesday the company expects $4 million to $5 million in in-game advertising revenues from its new "Need for Speed Carbon" game this quarter.

Probst, who heads the world's largest video game maker, told the Reuters Media Summit in New York that advertising revenues from the newest game in EA's popular car racing franchise would be split between dynamic and static advertisements.

EA recently announced an exclusive version of the Sims for the Nintendo Wii, and it turns out the game will now feature the Mii characters one can make on the Nintendo Wii to feature in Wii Sports.

Furthermore, the game has a visual style that reminds us very much of Animal Crossing, which might not be a bad thing at all.

If anything, we should be glad that EA is planning to give Wii owners something new instead of a straight port of an old game.

The game is currently slated for a release in Japan in 2007.

"When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates...
