Over at Gamasutra, there's some intriguing information about the Peter Jackson/Bungie project first announced at X06 last fall. Details are sketchy (okay, that's almost an overstatement), but it looks like there will be at least two episodic gaming series, with at least the first being set in the Halo universe. If and when more info becomes available, we'll be sure to let you know.
Troy Hurtubise, the Hamilton-born inventor who became famous for his bulky bear-protection suit by standing in front of a moving vehicle to prove it worked, has now created a much slimmer suit that he hopes will soon be protecting Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan and U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

Max Hoberman, the former Halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer lead, announced he left Bungie to start a new development studio based in Austin, TX called Certain Affinity.
The company's first project is the creation of new multiplayer maps for Halo 2, which will be released this spring. Certain Affinity is also creating a new Xbox 360 title to be announced at a later date.

Microsoft Corp. plans to finance a movie based on its popular video game "Halo" after Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox backed out of the project.
The two studios cut their ties to "Halo" because of costs associated with the movie, which had a preliminary budget of $145 million, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The studios also failed to persuade the filmmakers to renegotiate their contracts, the newspaper said.

Ha, so you saw the movie news did you? As a story in Hollywood newspaper Variety noted, Universal and Fox wanted to renegotiate the Halo movie deal at the 11th hour and Microsoft and its partners, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh refused. Oscar winner Denzel Washington is rumored to be up for the role of "Master Chief" in Fox/Universal's film version of the Microsoft/Bungie videogame sensation Halo. That's according to the Dark Horizons movie news website.
The site did not cite a source for the rumor, which comes on the heels of the news reported earlier this month by the Associated Press that Washington had met with filmmaker Peter Jackson in New Zealand to discuss working together.
