More than a thousand fans lined up in Times Square for the Sunday launch of Nintendo's entry into the holiday season's field of competing video game consoles, the cheap but innovative Wii.

PlayStation 3 sells out at launch
I'm sure it'll sell out in the States as well...
The console officially went on sale on 11 November but Sony only made 100,000 machines available on launch day.
Instead of opening at midnight, stores organised lotteries to decide who in the queue would get a long-awaited PS3.

PlayStation 3 Launch in Japan
It's over! The 100,000 PlayStation 3s available at launch in Japan are snapped up and gone. The push of the crowd was unreal. Rows of bicycles, scooters and motorcycles could be seen columnating, collapsing domino-style through peripheral vision. Backpacks and jackets were being trampled underfoot. Harried hollers of "we're not selling any PlayStation 3s today!" could be heard, as the hive-mind of the PS3-hungry horde hurtled hence towards their wholly unknown goal.

Gamestop manager: "There is no way the PS3 launch is going to go well."
Considering how few PS3s will be available at launch, the chaos is going to be amazing.
EBGamestop's big yearly show is over, and one manager don't inspire confidence about the system launches coming up.
Arstechnica asked his feelings going into the PS3 launch with no word on allocations or preorders, and no news on what will happen towards the holidays. "It's going to be ugly, there is no way this launch is going to go well."
