Here’s a little more salt on the already oozing, pussing wound that just won’t seem to close for Sony. SEGA announced today that Virtua Fighter 5 wil be coming to the Xbox 360 towards the end of summer 2007. But, PS3 owners will be able to play the game first when it’s released in February 2007.

Most should already expect the PlayStation 3 to be backwards compatible with original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 software, but the new word is that Sega MegaDrive/Genesis and NEC PC Engine/TurboGrafx systems will also be emulated. Certainly, this mimics Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console feature. Pricing structure has yet to be revealed, but we expect something in the $5 to $15 range.

Anybody remember the Sega CD? Or how about the Sega 32? The Dreamcast held much more promise but it tanked too. Eventually Sega gave up on gaming hardware and decided to focus strictly on games.
Sony is starting to run out of the number of flop hardware projects they can release and maintain customer confidence. Reports are that they are having trouble defining the PSP which is sad because the PSP is a beautifully designed device. For a portable gaming machine I think it’s the best design I’ve seen to date, but it has an identity crisis...

One of Sega's mysterious prototype Dreamcast controllers looks very similar to the Wiimote. So, what were Sega planning back in 1998? And did Nintendo copy their idea? Sega even had a gun attachment, like the one we saw at E3 this year. Check out the pics and judge for yourself!
