Ben Herman, who runs SNK Playmore USA, is almost as excited about Neo-Geo games on the Virtual Console as we are. In a recent interview, he discussed SNK's VC plans and Nintendo's operation of the system in general.
According to Herman, who, of course, can't give details, SNK expects to release "a certain limited number of titles per month," which is enough to have us cheering, because that's a lot more than the N64 is getting. "Something big is coming to the Virtual Console, something that, for the past decade, certain corners of the retro community have been crying out for. I wish I could say more, but the uncertainties of publishing schedules prevents me from spilling the beans too early. Nevertheless, if what we’ve heard turns out to be true, the virtual console is about to become a lot more interesting and looks like it might turn out to be much more valuable to dedicated retro gamers than we first thought."

So what do we have here? Hmm, screen 1 shows the Virtual Console front page and demonstrates the sort of options we’ll be able to browse and dive into. Based on what Nintendo has told us so far it looks like a pretty complete list too, with news, weather, digital image management and the Mii channel all on display, as well as a bunch of games – presumably downloaded through the Wii Shop channel that’s shown.

Ryan R.,self-proclaimed Nintendo insider, writes: The release date is November 12. This keeps up with our Sunday release tradition. The N64, Gamecube, GBASP, GB Micro, NDS, NDS Lite have all been released on Sunday. The original GBA unfortunately was not on a Sunday. Plus we're beating Sony out of the gate by less than a week to try and get those few people who plan on getting both systems. But of course we're not in direct competition with Microsoft or Sony.
